Matt Hubbard plays “back-alley beatnik blues” (Austin Chronicle) on his funky Hammond organ, honky-tonk piano, hobo harmonica, and down-home trombone.
Musician, composer, and producer Matt Hubbard has worked with legend Willie Nelson for many years, recording numerous albums and duets at Willie’s home studio in Luck, Texas including “Rainbow Connection” and “Run That By Me One More Time” both nominated for the Country Album of the Year Grammy.
Matt played keyboards, trombone, and harmonica with jam band 7 Walkers featuring Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann, Meters’ bassist George Porter Jr. and guitarist Papa Mali.
He has also worked with Hall of Famers Wanda Jackson, Ray Price, producer Bob Johnson, and Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter as well as Rickie Lee Jones, Billy Bob Thorton, and many others. Matt now records and tours with Edie Brickell & New Bohemians while holding down a weekly residency with the Matt Hubbard Trio at C-Boy’s Heart & Soul in Austin.
